Mavcoat® Mold Release Coatings for Polyurethane Systems
provide highly effective release properties for all elastomers and foams including high resiliency MDI and TDI foams and open cast polyether and polyester systems.  The coatings adhere to all mold surfaces such as, aluminum, steel, urethane, epoxy, and fiberglass. They are chemically engineered to uniformly wet the surface and provide long manufacturing runs without breakdown or attack of the urethane skin through a heat-stable, non-carbonizing film.  There are Mavcoat chemistries for all the major polyurethane categories:

  • Cast Elastomers
  • Rigid Foam
  • Flexible Foam, including:
  • Integral Skin Foam
  • High Resiliency and Visco-Elastic Foam

Current customer applications include the manufacture of automotive and truck bushings, air filters, skate wheels, foam seats and dashboards, shoe soles, performance car cowlings and sport flares, drive belts, oil seals, and diaphragms just to name a few.  Other applications include:

  • Flexible architectural molding.
  • Automotive body styling kits.
  • Artificial rocks and boulders
  • Concrete stamp pads
  • Cable Guards
  • High load and rollercoaster wheels
  • Concrete Formliners
  • Theatre Seats
  • Spa, Fitness, and Medical padding.

For Painted Parts - The Best Product Combination: T-100 and Cleaner 202
If you want to paint your urethane parts, use Mavcoat T-100 as the mold release and clean them with Maverix Cleaner 202.  This system was developed and has been proven to work for customers that do not want to sandblast or undergo extensive cleaning operations such as wiping with expensive MEK or acetone before painting parts.  T-100 releases urethane without silicone and Cleaner 202 is a water-based product that surrounds and lifts any remaining residues of T-100.  The result is an excellent paint-ready surface.

Polyurethane Mold Release Products
For Cast Elastomers
Mavcoat EC Mold Release and Tool Life Extender
Uses a fast evaporating solvent and is specially formulated to release polyurethane from RTV silicone tooling.   It protects expensive silicone molds from tearing and allows fine detail to show in the finished part. Mavcoat EC extends silicone tooling 8 to 10 times the usual working life of the mold.

Mavcoat T-100 Paintable Mold Release
Is solvent-based and uses non-silicone polymers that allow finished parts to be painted, printed, plated, or post decorated in any way.  T-100 provides release of cast elastomers from all types of tooling.

Mavcoat 902M Paintable Mold Release Coating
This is the water-based version of Mavcoat T-100.

Mavcoat TPC Mold Release Coating
Provides good release via a light non-silicone film which works well for high volume production environments where parts need to be painted or cleaned before use.  TPC is solvent-based and available in aerosol cans, pails, and drums.

Mavcoat HVP-I Mold Release
Available in aerosol cans and bulk. HVP-I is engineered for high volume production environments that require a fast evaporating mold release with excellent surface wetting properties.

Mavcoat EF-ND Mold Release Coating
This is the water-based version of Mavcoat HVP-I.

Mavcoat NB Mold Release
Is our “workhorse” and one of our best selling products.  It is designed for hand casting or high volume automated production lines. It can be wiped on or spray applied with an airbrush.  NB provides medium release strength.  This product is solvent-based and odorless.

Mavcoat XCA Mold Release
Is a pure resin and contains no solvents.  It works well  when there is a need for a concentrated mold release.  It is odorless, non flammable, and produces multiple releases from a single application.

Mavcoat GHS Mold Release
Is the strongest release coating in the Mavcoat product line designed for processes that require a release coating to withstand the most aggressive elastomer chemistry. GHS is also used in critical processes such as making master molds.  It does not contain solvents, is non-flammable, odorless, and produces multiple releases.

For Rigid Foam
Mavcoat DHSR Mold Release
Is a solvent-based chemistry that is near odorless and releases all rigid, closed-cell, polyurethane foam systems. DHSR adheres to any mold surface such as steel, aluminum, epoxy, fiberglass, or urethane.

Mavcoat BPFR Mold Release
Is the water-based version of Mavcoat DHSR.

Specialty Products for Cast Elastomers
Mavcoat CDN Mold Release
Is a completely silicone-free, water-based emulsion that is used in applications where silcone contamination is not allowed such as in aerospace parts and medical devices.  CDN releases foams and elastomers.  It works best on heated metal molds where water can be rapidly evaporated.  This critical technology allows finished parts to be used in sensitive applications that do not tolerate silicone residues.

Mavcoat BR Mold Release
Is a water based emulsion used to release rubber mats and other protective surfaces made from recycled tires using urethane binder systems.

Mavcoat SPK
Is a coating that exhibits ceramic characteristics and withstands molding temperatures up to 900F.  This high slip chemistry releases all TDI and MDI polyurethane systems.  SPK is solvent-based and yields a semi-permanent coating that provides multiple releases from a single application.  Typically, a single coating will last for an entire day’s production.

For High Resiliency Flexible Foam
Mavcoat HR-S Mold Release
Is a solvent-based chemistry that is near odorless and releases all flexible polyurethane foam systems from molds made of steel, aluminum, epoxy, fiberglass, or urethane.  HR-S is ideal for seating foam or visco-elastic foam used in pillow or bedding applications.

Mavcoat HR-W Mold Release
Is the water-based version of Mavcoat HR-S.  However, parts demold with a little glossier surface finish.  Easily accepts adhesive for post-bonding operations.

For Integral Skin (Self-Skinning) Flexible Foam
Mavcoat T-100 Paintable Mold Release
Is solvent-based and uses non-silicone polymers that allow finished parts to be painted or post decorated.  T-100 provides release of integral skin foams from all tooling such as metalized epoxy, aluminum, or fiberglass.

Mavcoat HVP-E Mold Release
Is an odorless, solvent-based chemistry that releases all self-skinning urethane foam systems from molds made of steel, aluminum, epoxy, fiberglass, or urethane.  The developed skin is uniform, demolds easily and with excellent cosmetics.

Mavcoat A2 Mold Release
Is the water-based version of Mavcoat HVP-E.

Mavcoat XC-ES Mold Release
Does not contain any solvents and provides the greatest release strength for all flexible polyurethane foam systems.  XC-ES will yield several parts from a single application.

Please note: we also have many other proven products for each urethane category, but too many to describe in this section.  They each meet different performance requirements and price points.  So if the products described above do not sound like they will fit your parameters, please contact us so we can make the correct recommendation.
