As the world’s need for advanced composites manufacturing continues to rapidly grow, Maverix Solutions™ developed a unique mold releasant chemistry. We recognized the need for a simple, yet sophisticated mold release system for operators to employ. Mavcoat™ mold release agents meet this challenge by giving the industry a single-coat, water-based release agent. No sealers or primers necessary. Just coat and mold!
Maverix Solution’s Mavcoat™ mold releases for composite manufacturing are designed to simplify your production processes. ONLY A SINGLE COAT IS NEEDED. No need to use sealers or primers. And no waiting between coats or curing time! Operators can begin production as soon as Mavcoat™ has uniformly coated the mold! The finished parts will exit the mold cleanly and easily. And due to Mavcoat’s inert chemistry, it provides release from all types of thermoset epoxies and prepregs and polyester, phenolic, and vinyl ester resins. Maverix Solutions™ has the products needed for manufacturing applications such as, - RTM
- Prepreg
- Mandrel Wrapping
- Autoclaving
- Filament Winding
- Vacuum Bagging
- Compression Molding
PROPERTIES Mavcoat™ Mold Releases for Carbon Fiber have several important features that differentiate them from other products found in the industry. The unique chemistry prevents pinholes from occurring. Mavcoat™ acts like a lubricant by allowing the resins to easily flow at gel temperature and cure without pinholes to produce a cosmetically perfect part. In some cases, sanding or media blasting can be eliminated. Other properties include: - Highly nonstick (low coefficient of friction)
- Thermally stable over wide range of temperatures
- Nonflammable
- Chemically inert
- Resistant to corrosive chemicals
- Clean and non-staining
- Insoluble
- Non-migrating
Additionally, Mavcoat does not form a hard, thick film on composite tooling like most competing composite release agents. As a result, it is easily cleaned from composite tooling without scouring, blasting media, or other abrasive procedures. Mavcoat™ Mold Cleaner can be used in-press to remove residuals without removing tooling.
| Features | Benefits |

| Chemically inert | Most multiple releases |
| Polar opposite binder system | Prepreg flows easily |
| No transfer, non-migrating | Easy to post paint, print and decorate |
| High thermal stability | Handles wide operating temperatures |
PRODUCTS Mavcoat™ EP-111 – Typically used for compression and RTM molding, EP-111 produces multiple releases with a single application. It is a ready to use mold release agent for prepreg and thermoset epoxies and polyester, phenolic, and vinyl ester resins. Water-based and applied to hot molds, it is a white dispersion that imparts a fine film and produces a slick, friction-free surface with excellent lubricity and antistatic properties after the evaporation of water. The film is chemically and thermally stable, and non-flammable. EP-111 is a true workhorse for the composite industry. Mavcoat™ Mandrel Release is a polymer suspension used to coat mandrels and impart a thin film that is low in friction with excellent lubricity and antistatic properties. It offers excellent release for prepreg and thermoset epoxies, polyester, phenolic, and vinyl ester resins. The film is chemically and thermally stable. Mavcoat™ Mandrel Release is designed to coat mandrels and release carbon fiber composites used in the production of hockey and golf shafts, bicycle tubes, and any other similar mandrel-built parts. This can be used as a concentrate or diluted up to 3 parts water to 1 part Mandrel Release. The chemistry will provide multiple releases with a single application and resist build up on the tooling. Mavcoat™ Mold Cleaner - An environmentally preferred cleaner that effectively replaces hazardous solvents traditionally used for cleaning molds. This product has been designed to specifically clean the resin and release build up after months of production on molds and mandrels. Requires no abrasive scrubbing, which significantly prolongs mold life. Needs heat to effectively clean and cuts through build up to produce a perfectly clean mold of mandrel.
